Get to know SAMANTHA JONES

High School:

  • At Marlboro High School in New York, starting shortstop for six seasons
  • Career batting average of .522, including a .636 mark her senior year.
  • Jones is in the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame. 
  • Jones holds NY State records in Most Career Doubles, Most Single Game Homeruns, Most Career Homeruns, Most RBI's in Single Game, and Most Career RBI's.

College:

University of Kentucky softball student-athlete 2007-2012  

  • First-ever school appearance in NCAA Super Regional and won 40 games.
  • 2011 season: 10 home runs 34 RBI
  • 2011 Offensive Player of the Year.
  • 20 home runs in her four-year career.
  • 2009 SEC Community Service Team
  • 2010 All-SEC Academic Team.
  • 4 year member of the school's Dean's List and the SEC Honor Roll every season.
  • 2011 awarded the Brad Davis SEC Community Service post-graduate award, the Darrel Van Meter Community Award and the Frank G. Ham Character of Society Award. 

Coaching Career:

Head Softball Coach at Asbury University (NAIA) 2012-2016

  • 2016, six athletes, including all five of Asbury's seniors, earned spots on the All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams.
  • 2016 named KIAC Coach of Character winner. The honor is given each year to only one coach in the conference who best exemplifies the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative. 

Assistant Softball Coach at Miami University (D1-MAC) 2016-2018

  • 2017 team scored 265 runs (second in Miami history)
  • Top-10 list in home runs (47), doubles (74), runs per game (5.0), RBI (222) and walks drawn (161).
  • .967 fielding percentage was among the best five in school history.
  • Program record for semester team grade-point average (3.62) and overall school-year GPA (3.45).
